A proposed new lending 'bank’ for Cornwall has the backing of MEP Sir Graham Watson
Under proposals by the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP), more than £100 million pounds of EU funding already allocated to the region could go into setting up an institution that will be able to quickly supply European money to start-up businesses and companies looking to expand into the county.
The idea is that money paid back can be loaned out again to other firms and kept circulating in the local economy. Liberal Democrat Sir Graham welcomes the plans, but says local businesses must be on board too. His interview with Europe&You
